The Hackney Empire is currently undergoing a multi million pound
refurbishment which will make it a technological wonder for the
21st Century. New work includes a magnificent fly tower and new dressing
room block. The enlarged orchestra pit will accommodate up to 60 musicians and will
make the Empire suitable for large scale opera, classical music concerts
and musicals. Audiences to the refurbished Empire will enjoy spacious
new bars and modern front of house facilities. We are currently
identifying funding for the completion of the work, which will include
an education space / studio, a hospitality suite and the new Marie Lloyd
Bar on the corner of the Town Hall Square and Mare Street site.
