The building in the image is actually the old Whitefriars monastery on the opposite side of the city to the old Bablake School and Bonds Hospital.

For those interesed, the old Bablake School and Bonds Hospital are timber framed buildings found to the west of Coventry city centre, the WHitefirars monastery is to be found to the south east of the city centre.

Th monastery was dissolved by Henry VIII and purchase for use as a Gramamr school by John Hales, at about the same time as Wheatley was foundign the Bablake school on the other side of the city.

The Grammar school moved from The whitefriars to a more entral location on corporation street and moved again in the 1880s to its current location on Warwick Road.

Bablake School also relocated in the 1880s to new location in Radford road.

The rivalry between the two shcools has always been present, even today when they are both part of the same independent schools charity.
