Young Curators of Women in Art

Introduction - Ghislaine Kenyon, Head of Learning

Welcome to our special online exhibition Young Curators of Women in Art. Five year 9 students from Charles Edward Brooke School in Lambeth spent a week in August at the Courtauld Institute of Art, working with Gallery curators and the Joint Education team. They have curated this online exhibition, which draws on works from the Courtauld Institute of Art Gallery. The Gallery’s collections include outstanding paintings from seven centuries of Western European art, and the young curators have chosen five works which they see as demonstrating different ways in which women have been represented over this period. The students explored several aspects of curatorship, including interpretation, which led to the production of the texts which accompany their chosen images.
