Laib’s son continued his father’s work into the 1960s, but by the 1970s the collection of over 22,000 glass plates would have been destroyed had it not been for the intervention of Patrick De Laszlo, son of the portrait painter Philip De Laszlo who had been one of Laib’s most frequent artist clients.
