In Aprés-midi Tunisien, Philpot again uses human figures, relaxing in an exotic setting, to suggest a sexual encounter. Both pictures carry homoerotic potential. The nudes in Himalayas are of ambiguous gender, some seemingly female, but with a masculine muscularity. The men in Aprés-midi Tunisien are luxuriantly at ease with one another.
