About this work
This may be a design for the frontispiece of a book or a commemorative print. The inscription on the banderole suggests that the composition was intended to celebrate the triumph of the Austrian Habsburg dynasty which ruled the Kingdom of Naples from 1713 to 1734. The semi-naked female figure at the centre may be a personification of Fortune. Her delicate features are typical of Giacomo Del Po’s work as a draughtsman. (Permanent collection label)
