Little biographical information is available for this 14th century Florentine painter, whose name appears on some paintings as Bernadus or Bernardus de Florentia, and who matriculated around 1320 in the Arte dei Medici e Speziali.
Certain aspects of his early works show an influence of Giotto (of whom he was a younger contemporary), as well as some of Giotto's associates such as Taddeo Gaddi.
